Lower Tregeen Wind Turbine

A planning application has been made to repower an existing wind turbine at Lower Tregeen, Davidstow Camelford PL32 9XU. The application requests a maximum blade tip height of 77m, together with associated works, to replace a wind turbine permitted and erected under PA13/09438:

The proposed new wind turbine is somewhat larger than the one referred to in the 2013 application. That one was:

20m to hub, maximum 27.1m to tip, 20kW output

  1. The new wind turbine at Lower Tregeen has been approved by Cornwall Council, subject to some conditions. The most immediately relevant to local residents are:

6 Construction work shall only take place between the hours of 0800 – 1800 hours on Monday to Friday inclusive, 0800 – 1300 hours on Saturdays with no such working on Sundays, Bank or Public Holidays. Any working outside of these hours shall be restricted to site entrance works or essential works to erect the wind turbine and shall be undertaken only with the prior written approval of the LPA in regard to dates, times and specific reasons for out of specified hours working e.g. night-time working as necessary associated with traffic management.

7 This condition applies to an EWT DW54 900kW turbine operating on a mast with a hub height of 50m and blade tip height of 77m.

    1) a) The turbine will be operated in accordance with the details set out in the RMA Environmental Noise Assessment (Chapter 8, Issue 3, Revision March 2019)

    b) The rating level of noise emissions from the wind turbine/s (including the application of any penalties for tonal and/or amplitude modulation components), when determined in accordance with the attached Guidance Notes (to this condition), when operating in isolation shall not exceed the values for relevant integer wind speeds set out in, or derived from Table 1 below, using a sound power level of 102.6 dB(A) + 1dB = 103.6dB(A), at 10m/s at 10m height at the curtilage of any noise-sensitive premises lawfully existing or which has planning permission at the date of this consent. Sound limits at noise sensitive properties include those stated in Table 1 below:
